Bumper Cabbage Yield! 40 MT in 30 R Area.
This is a Success Story of a Young Farmer Mr. Sridhar Patil from Sangli District who had bumper Yield of Cabbage Saint in 30 R areas. With new technique of cabbage cultivation.
Concept behind this bumper yield is increasing the plant population of Cabbage with raise bed for planting. The raise bed of 4 feet were prepared, the drip irrigation lateral(each dripper at 1 feet ) is placed in the centre of 4 feet bed and planting is done on both side the lateral of drip keeping 9 inch distance in two plants this way we will get 4 plants in one line on the 4 feet raise bed.
Normally Farmers goes for cabbage cultivation on ridges and furrows at distance of 3 Bye1 Feet on both sides of ridges results less plant population in this planting method. But if we adopted the new technique for planting with drip irrigation on raise bed of 4 feet the plant population gets doubled.
This is the concept now get promoted throughout the territory among the Nurseries and farmers.
The irrigation and fertilizers were provided by drip. The total plant population in 30 R area was 45000.
The cost of cultivation was Rs.50000.
The Farmer get av. Rs. 15 per Kg Rate for cabbage saint directly on the field. This was the highest rate of the year for per kg Cabbage. Net benefit after deducting the cultivation cost was Rs. 5 Lac. This was the miracle in 80 days to farmer. This is the solution for small marginal farmers over the limited land to cultivated bumper crop.
